TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University senior midfielder Emily Wells has been honored as the 2022 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for Field Hockey.

The Landmark Conference selects 22 senior scholar athletes each year to recognize the top student-athlete in each sport based on academics and athletics. The honorees must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 and are selected by a committee of Landmark Conference officers, athletics directors, senior woman administrators and sports information directors. Chosen at the conclusion of each sport season, the six fall honorees are being announced this week.

This fall, Wells was named to the Landmark All-Conference First Team for a second straight season after scoring four goals and eight assists with one game-winning goal on the year. She helped the Greyhounds reach the conference championship match for the first time in program history. In 2021, Wells was part of Moravian's best season in school history as the squad went 14-3 and made the Landmark Conference Tournament for the first time as the top seed. She had eight goals and 12 assists last fall with a pair of game winning goals while garnering her first Landmark All-Conference First Team honor. Wells completed her career tied for 12th all-time with 55 points on 17 goals and 21 assists with her assist total being tied for second in program history.

Wells has been selected to participate in the 2022 Victory Sports Tours/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division III Senior Game on Saturday, November 19 in conjunction with the 2022 NCAA Division III Field Hockey National Championship weekend in Glassboro, New Jersey at Rowan University.

Off the field, Wells has made Moravian's Dean's Honors List six times as well as being a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. She will be a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, and Wells is a three-time member of the NFHCA National Academic squad, earning Scholar of Distinction honors each year. Wells is majoring in biochemistry with a pre-met track, and she has a 3.90 grade point average.

Wells is also a member of the Beta Beta Beta and Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Societies, and she is a member of the Pre-Health Club at Moravian and was a Calculus PASS Leader in 2020.

"Emily Wells embodies what it means to be a student-athlete here at Moravian," stated Head Coach Sarah Dalrymple. "Her commitment to her academic success as well as athletics is unmatched. We are grateful and proud to have Wells as a leader on our team both in the classroom and on the field."

Wells is Moravian's 40th Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete since the conference began in 2007-08, and she is the first field hockey student-athlete to be honored.
