Tavares Earns Medalist at Elizabethtown Invitational as Greyhounds Take 3rd in 2021 Opener

HERSHEY, Pa. --- The Moravian College golf team began its 2021 season Thursday afternoon by finishing third in the Elizabethtown College Invitational played on the Hershey Country Club East course.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds had a team score of 341 to finish third of the six teams in the tournament of all Landmark Conference schools. Both The Catholic University of America and Juniata College had two teams compete with Catholic taking the top two team spots with scores of 320 and 339
  • Moravian senior Victor Tavares earned medalist honors with a four-over par round of 75, taking first of the 31 golfers by three strokes

Moravian Results

  • Tavares' round was the second lowest of his career, and the first medalist honor he has earned. He carded a pair of birdies and 10 pars
  • Senior Thomas Lakata was tied for tenth with an 85 that included two birdies and six pars
  • Junior Will Breslin finished in a tie for 15th with a round of 89 the saw him make six pars
  • Sophomore Andrew Hozza tied for 22nd with a 92 that inclued four pars
  • Freshman Sam Mortazavi was tied for 27th with a round of 95 in his first collegiate competition that included a birdie and two pars
