Haberstumpf Goes Under Par in First Collegiate Event for Medalist Honors to Lead Greyhounds to Runner-Up Finish at Weyhill Classic

SAUCON VALLEY, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's golf team began its 2022-23 season with a runner-up finish in the Weyhill Classic hosted by the Greyhounds on the Weyhill Course at Saucon Valley Country Club Monday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Hounds carded a four-man team score of 320 while The University of Scranton finished first with a 317
  • Moravian had a one-stroke lead before the final group came off of the course
  • A total of 39 golfers took to the course with the Greyhounds fielding a team of five players and four additional individuals

Moravian Results

  • Freshman Jake Haberstumpf earned medalist honors in his first collegiate event, shooting the lone under par round as he carded a 71 on the par 72 course. Haberstumpf's round included four birdies and 11 pars, and he had the low round of the day by five strokes
  • Sophomore TJ Bohl finished in a tie for fourth with a season-opening round of 80 that included a pair of birdies and eight pars
  • Sophomore Jason Koch recorded an 83 on his scorecard to finish in a tie for tenth, and he had three birdies and eight pars in his round
  • Senior Andrew Hozza carded an 86 to place in a tie for 17th, and he had seven pars while freshman Robbie McNelly had an 89 in his first collegiate round with six pars, which placed him 26th
  • Senior Jack Wagner led Moravian's individual competitors with an 86 that included five pars and tied him for 17th while junior Eric Gilbert carded a 95 with a birdie and a par
  • Junior Sam Mortazavi recorded a 109 and made six pars while sophomore Jacob Donmoyer had a 110 with a pair of pars in his collegiate debut
