Hounds Fall at Susquehanna in Landmark Conference Action

SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's basketball squad fell to host Susquehanna University, 73-62, in Landmark Conference action Saturday.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds netted the first two points of the contest as sophomore forward Nate Santiago. The River Hawks tied the contest before freshman forward Marquis Ratcliff drained a jumper for a 4-2 edge. Susquehanna scored the next 13 points before junior forward Mike DiPietro ended the run with a jumper at the 14:06 mark
  • The River Hawks pushed the advantage out to 27-8 when the Hounds slowly cut into the edge. Moravian would get within 12 points at the intermission on a late three-pointer from junior guard C.J. Weber made it a 41-29 game at the break
  • Susquehanna pushed the lead back to 18 points at 52-34 when the Blue and Grey went on a 13-2 run to close within seven points at 54-47 on a pair of free throws from Ratcliff at the 11:14 mark. Moravian would eventually close within six points at 59-53 on a jumper from junior guard Alex Dietz with 7:21 to play. However, the River Hawks extended the lead back to double digits 

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had a pair of players in double figures with Ratcliff netting a game-high 21 points to go with eight rebounds and a pair of blocked shots and Dietz tossing in 10 points
  • Santiago and Weber each finished with seven points with Santiago adding six rebounds and Weber contributing two assists
  • DiPietro, junior guard Mark Howell and sophomore guard/forward Michael Leonardo all scored four points. Leonardo also grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds and dished out six assists while DiPietro had two boards
  • Freshman guard Porter Kelly had three points while freshman forward Uma Kalu netted two points
  • The Greyhounds were 24-for-57 from the field, 4-for-16 beyond the three-point line and 10-for-15 at the foul line
