GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's lacrosse squad opened its 2021 campaign with an 18-13 non-conference victory at Gwynedd Mercy University Monday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • Moravian needed just 15 seconds to score the opening goal of the season as junior attack Connor James took a pass from senior long stick midfielder Jimmy Schicke for the first tally of the year. Junior attack Griffin LeBlond made it 2-0 before the Griffins knotted the score. Senior attack Cade Siddron pushed the Hounds back in front before Gwynedd Mercy scored twice to take its only lead of the afternoon at 4-3 with 1:12 left in the quarter. Siddron and James each scored in the final 17 seconds as the Blue and Grey led 5-4 after 15 minutes of action
  • LeBlond pushed it to 6-4 with his second goal of the day just 31 seconds into the second quarter, and Siddron made Moravian's edge 10-6 with his third goal. James netted his third goal with 1:05 left in the first half and the Greyhounds headed to the intermission with an 11-9 lead
  • Siddron tallied the first goal of the second half, and he added another goal in the period that ended with LeBlond finding the net with just seven seconds on the clock as the Hounds led 15-12 after 45 minutes
  • Moravian tallied three more goals in the fourth quarter before the Griffins scored with just 15 seconds left

  • The only other Hound to score a goal was James, who had four tallies to go along with a pair of assists. Schicke and junior midfielder Nick Nolder both had one assist

Siddron's 10 points are tied for fifth all-time in program history and most in a match since Quedenfield scored 11 points at Neumann University on April 6, 2005
  • Junior face-off specialist Ben Walek was 22-for-33 on face-offs, just one face-off win shy of T.J. Hirsch's school record of 23 face-off wins set against Mt. Ida College on March 10, 2007
