TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian College senior sprinter Sean McFarland been honored as the Landmark Conference Men's Track Athlete of the Week for his performance last week.

McFarland earned two first place finishes and one runner-up at the Elizabethtown College Early Bird Opener as the Greyhounds began their 2021 season. McFarland won the 200-meter dash in 22.55 seconds, and he led off Moravian's winning 4x400-meter relay that won in a time of 3:35.51. McFarland finished as the runner-up in the 400-meter dash in 52.00 seconds in his other race of the day.

"Sean opened up with a solid first 400, although he wanted to be a little quicker which seemed to fire him up for the 200, which ended up being a pretty eye-opening race for him," commented Director of Track & Field and Cross Country Jesse Baumann. "He was really explosive his first 30m on the turn and held off some really good athletes to win the 200 in an incredible time for this early in the season, and it being his first race in over a year. We both feel confident sub 22 seconds could be in the cards for him this season, and this should also confirm that he has the requisite speed to get well under 50 in the 400m before we reach Landmarks."

The Greyhounds are slated to return to action on Saturday, April 10 when the squad hosts the Greyhound Invitational at Timothy Breidegam Track and Rocco Calvo Field with action starting at 10:00 a.m.
