Moravian Men Win Greyhound Invitational & Take 12 Event Titles

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's outdoor track & field team finished first of six teams in the annual Greyhound Invitational at Timothy Breidegam Track Saturday as the Hounds scored 261 points while The University of Scranton was second with 78 points. 

Event Winners

  • Senior Sean McFarland won the 200-meter dash in 22.76 seconds, and he also captured the 400-meter dash in 51.21 seconds
  • Graduate student Greg Jaindl captured the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:24.70 and he also took first in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:04.93
  • Senior Shane Mastro won the hammer throw with a toss of 46.07 meters (151-1), and he also captured the shot put with a toss of 15.39 meters (50-6)
  • Senior Peter Gingrich won the 800-meter run in a time of 1:58.29
  • Sophomore Ethan Cherubin captured the 400-meter hurdles in 59.40 seconds
  • Graduate student Scott Goodwin won the pole vault at 4.20 meters (13-9.25)
  • Moravian's 4x100-meter relay squad of McFarland, freshman Matt Shea, freshman Jared Santos and freshman Kekeli Klu was first in 44.33 seconds
  • The Greyhounds 4x400-meter B relay squad of Gingrich, junior Dominic DeRafelo, junior Brad Clemson and freshman Brendon Ward took first with a time of 3:36.32
  • Senior Derek Scott won the discus with a toss of 42.30 meters (138-9) 

Top 8 Scoring Finishes

  • Freshman Joshneil Ferguson placed fifth in the 100-meter dash in 12.07 seconds while Santos was sixth in the same time
  • Freshman Marco Calantoni was third in the 200-meter dash with time of 23.94 seconds while Shea took fourth in 23.96 seconds and Santos was eighth in 24.56 seconds
  • Shea was third in the 400-meter dash in 53.80 seconds while freshman Lance Burrier placed fourth in 54.82 seconds
  • Clemson finished third in the 800-meter run in 2:03.03
  • Sophomore Darlyn Fermin took seventh in the 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:18.65
  • DeRafelo finished third in the 5,000-meter run in 16:01.30
  • Junior Richard Glennon was fifth in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:05.06
  • Junior Shane Houghton was the runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a time of 9:47.93 while junior Michael Lerch took third in 10:15.08 and sophomore Christian Jancsarics was fifth in 11:27.81
  • Glennon, Fermin, Jaindl and Houghton combined for a runner-up finish in the 4x400-meter relay in a time of 3:42.90
  • Sophomore Kyle Smilon was the runner-up in the high jump at 1.65 meters (5-5) while Ferguson took third at 1.55 meters (5-1)
  • Junior Max Schuman was second in the pole vault at a height of 4.05 meters (13-3.5)
  • Smilon also took third in the long jump with a leap of 5.81 meters (19-0.75)
  • Freshman Jeremy Goll  was fifth in the shot put with a toss of 11.01 meters (36-1.5)
  • Sophomore Dan Jenkins was the runner-up in the discus with a mark of 38.53 meters (126-5) while sophomore Adam Gildea finished third at 36.29 meters (119-0), Goll was fourth at 33.05 meters (108-5) and freshman Dan McNicholas was fifth at 31.49 meters (103-3)
  • Scott was the runner-up in the hammer throw at 42.08 meters (138-0) while Jenkins took third at 41.31 meters (135-6) and junior Tim King was fourth with a toss of 38.58 meters (159-4)
  • Freshman Eric Keck finished third in the javelin with a mark of 43.89 meters (144-0)
