Moravian Men Capture Nine Event Titles at Juniata College Invitational

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's outdoor track & field team captured nine event titles in the non-scoring Juniata College Invitational Saturday, the Greyhounds' final meet before the 2021 Landmark Conference Championships. 

Event Winners

  • Senior Sean McFarland captured first in the 200-meter dash in a time of 22.42 seconds, and he also took first in the 400-meter dash in an All-Atlantic Region Track & Field qualifying time of 49.82 seconds
  • Junior Shane Houghton won the 3,000-meter run in a time of 8:58.90
  • Graduate student Greg Jaindl finished first in the 5,000-meter run in 15:25.57
  • Senior Billy Milburn won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 12:29.16
  • The Greyhounds 4x400-meter relay A team of McFarland and freshmen Lance Burrier, Marco Calantoni and Matt Shea finished first in a time of 3:35.49
  • Senior Shane Mastro captured first in the shot put with an AARTF qualifying distance of 15.16 meters (49-9), and he also won the discus with an AARTF qualifying mark of 42.24 meters (138-7)
  • Senior Derek Scott took first in the hammer throw with a toss of 44.02 meters (144-5)

Top 8 Finishes

  • Freshman Jared Santos took sixth in the 100-meter dash in 11.83 seconds while freshman Kekeli Klu placed seventh in 11.89 seconds
  • Shea was sixth in the 200-meter dash in 24.02 seconds while Calantoni took eighth in 24.08 seconds
  • Shea also finished fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.99 seconds while Calantoni placed eighth in 55.55 seconds
  • Junior Brad Clemson was third in the 800-meter run in 2:01.77 while sophomore Darlyn Fermin finished fourth in 2:02.02 followed by junior Dominic DeRafelo in fifth at 2:04.00
  • Senior Peter Gingrich was the runner-up in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:13.01 while junior Michael Lerch took third in 4:17.47, freshman Jordan Ford placed fifth in 4:22.10 and sophomore Christian Jancsarics finished eighth in 4:37.94
  • Sophomore Liam Duffy was fourth in the 5,000-meter run in 16:18.76
  • Sophomore Ethan Cherubin was the runner-up in the 110-meter high hurdles in 17.12 seconds
  • Cherubin also took second in the 400-meter hurdles in 1:00.36 while junior Richard Glennon was fifth in 1:02.66
  • The Hounds 4x400-meter relay C team of Duffym Lerch, Houghton and Glennon was second in a time of 3:47.96 while the B team of Fermin, Gingrich, DeRafelo and Clemson placed third in 3:55.25.
  • Sophomore Kyle Smilon finished third in the high jump at 1.60 meters (5-3)
  • Graduate student Scott Goodwin was the runner-up in the pole vault, clearing an AARTF qualifying height of 4.40 meters (14-5.25)
  • Smilon was sixth in the long jump at a distance of 5.65 meters (18-6.5) while freshman Joshneil Ferguson was seventh at 5.20 meters (17-0.25)
  • Scott took third in the discus with an AARTF qualifying mark of 41.11 meters (134-10) while sophomore Dan Jenkins was fourth at 39.21 meters (128-8), sophomore Adam Gildea took fifth at 35.73 meters (117-3) and freshman Derek Mason finished eighth at 34.85 meters (114-4)
  • Mastro was the runner-up in the hammer throw with a toss of 43.39 meters (142-4) and he was followed by junior Tim King in third at 42.13 meters (138-3), Jenkins in fifth with a mark of 41.27 meters (135-5) and Mason at eighth with a distance of 36.01 meters (118-2)
  • Sophomore Eric Keck placed fifth in the javelin with a mark of 43.31 meters (142-1)
