Moravian Men Finish Third at 2022 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships after Winning Two Events Sunday

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's outdoor track & field team finished third at the 2022 Landmark Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Juniata College that concluded Sunday. The Greyhounds scored 151.5 points while Susquehanna University captured the team title with 229 points and the Catholic University of America was second with 154 points. 

Event Winner

  • Junior Dan Jenkins won the hammer throw with a Landmark Conference meet record, a conference record, a school record and an All-Atlantic Region Track & Field qualifying mark of 50.59 meters (165-11) to score 10 points for the Greyhounds
  • Graduate student Shane Mastro took first in the shot put for the third consecutive conference meet with a winning throw, a PR toss and AARTF qualifying distance of 15.51 meters (50-10.75)

Top 8 Scoring Results

  • Senior Shane Houghton was the runner-up in the 3,000-meter steeplechase in an AARTF qualifying and PR time of 9:28.51 to earn eight points while senior Michael Lerch finished seventh in a time of 10:12.14 to pick up another two points for the Greyhounds
  • Graduate student Shane Mastro was the runner-up in the hammer with a toss of 46.27 meters (151-9) while senior Timothy King was third at 42.95 meters (140-11) and junior Derek Mason took eighth with a mark of 39.12 meters (128-4) as the Blue and Grey scored a total of 25 points in the event with Jenkins' win
  • The Hounds added four points in the 400-meter dash with freshman Geoffrey Kleinberg finishing fifth in 51.41 seconds
  • Moravian scored eight points in the 100-meter dash with freshman Trevor Gray garnering five points for a fourth-place finish in a time of 11.24 seconds and sophomore Jared Santos earning three points in a sixth place showing in 11.50 seconds
  • The Blue and Grey scored nine points in the 800-meter run with graduate student Peter Gingrich taking fourth in an AARTF qualifying and PR time of 1:56.05 for five points and senior Dominic DeRafelo finishing fifth in an AARTF qualifying and PR time of 1:56.60 for another four points
  • Moravian earned a total of 20 points in the shot put with sophomore Jeremy Goll finishing third at a PR toss of 13.03 meters (42-9) for six points and King placing fifth with a distance of 12.79 meters (41-11.5) for four points to go with Mastro's 10 points for winning the event
  • The Hounds garnered three points in the 400-meter hurdles with senior Richard Glennon scoring two points for a seventh-place finish in a PR time of 1:00.36 while junior Ethan Cherubin took eighth in 1:00.48 for another point
  • Gray added a point with an eighth-place finish in the 200-meter dash in a time of 37.34 seconds
  • Senior Max Schuman garnered 4.5 points as he tied for fourth in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.10 meters (13-5.25)
  • The Greyhounds earned 12 points in the 5,000-meter run with Houghton taking fourth in 15:25.94 for five points. Freshman Nathan Hajel was one spot back in fifth in a PR time of 15:29.64 to receive four points while freshman Owen Nahf placed sixth in 15:30.24 to garner three points
  • Moravian's 4x400-meter relay of Gingrich, Kleinberg, DeRafelo and sophomore Matt Shea scored the final points of the meet with a fourth-place finish in 3:28.72 for five points
