BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse program has named seniors Liz Bill and Allie Brembt and junior Maecy Chlebowski as its captains for the 2020 season.
Bill, an attack that is in her second year as a team captain, was selected as the 2019 Landmark Conference Player of the Year and honored on the All-Conference First Team after she netted a school record 87 goals last spring to go with 12 assists for 99 points. Bill, who was also on the 2018 Landmark All-Conference First Team, also set a school record last year with 114 draw controls to go with 33 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. Bill begins her senior campaign with 245 points on 212 goals and 33 assists to go along with 166 draw controls and 97 ground balls.
"We're thrilled to have Liz back to lead us as a 2020 captain and offensive force this season," commented fifth-year Head Coach Kristen Nicholson. "Her leadership ability on and off the field is an extremely valuable asset to our program. She is a "lead by example" athlete and has high expectations for herself and her teammates alike."
Brembt is a three-year starter on defense that has seen action in 47 matches with 38 starts in her career. Brembt has netted 17 goals and added one assist for 18 points, and she also has 58 ground balls, 25 caused turnovers and 18 draw controls in her career.
"Allie has had the opportunity to fill multiple roles for our program in her four seasons including midfielder, defender, backup goalkeeper and now as a defensive captain," Nicholson said. "We're very excited to see how she thrives with this new responsibility and reinforced leadership position."
Chlebowski enters her third season with the Greyhounds on defense after an injury limited her to just four matches in 2019. Chlebowski has played in 20 career matches with 17 starts, and she has contributed 19 ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers.
"We're very excited to see Maecy back in action after a season ending injury last spring," stated Nicholson. "The silver lining through her injury was the vocal leadership and overall mentality she gained from being sidelined for the majority of the season. The knowledge she acquired from being forced to observe helped her become the leader our program needs to compete at the highest level this year."
Moravian, which was 12-6 a year ago and played in the Landmark Conference Tournament for the second consecutive year, is scheduled to begin the regular season on Saturday, February 22 with a non-conference match at Haverford College beginning at 12:00 p.m.
