BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- With their 2020 season cancelled after six matches by COVID-19, the Moravian College Department of Athletics & Recreation today honors the two senior members of the Greyhounds' women's lacrosse squad that missed out on their traditional season-ending Senior Day.
The duo helped the Greyhounds to a 34-22 record over the last four seasons, including a 4-2 mark this spring, two Landmark Conference Semifinals and the 2017 ECAC Division III Tournament First Round. The pair was honored on the field prior to the Hounds' final game on March 12 in a last-minute ceremony.
Senior attack Liz Bill started all 55 matches in her career with 233 goals, second all-time, 40 assists and 273 points, second in program history. She also had 198 draw controls, 102 ground balls and 48 caused turnovers. Liz was the 2019 Landmark Conference Player of the Year and selected to the Landmark All-Conference First Team in 2018 and 2019. She was also named to the 2019 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-Metro Region Second Team. Liz, who is a three-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, is the daughter of Mary and Tim Bill, and she is majoring in nursing at Moravian.
"Liz has been an instrumental player for our program since her freshman year," commented Head Coach Kristen Nicholson. "She's a powerful and explosive attacker with an eye for the cage. Liz has gained the respect of not only our program but of the Landmark Conference receiving Player of the Year and First Team accolades her junior season. She completed the 2019 season with 114 draw controls leading to our programs first NCAA Statistical Champion award. With her senior year coming to an abrupt end, Liz was on her way to another extraordinary season averaging over four points a game. Liz is also a fantastic student as a nursing major and leader to her teammates as a two-year team captain. We're tremendously proud of all that Liz has accomplished in her athletic campaign but are also extremely confident that she will continue this magnitude of success in her future as a nurse."
Senior defender Allie Brembt played in 51 career matches with 40 starts, and she contributed 17 goals, one assist, 64 ground balls, 26 caused turnovers and 18 draw controls. Allie, who is a two-time member of the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll, is the daughter of Angel Longo and Paul Brembt, and she is majoring in special education with an elementary education certification.
"Allie's commitment and approach to the game is something coaches strive to instill in all of their athletes," stated Nicholson. "Her relentless dedication to the improvement of her personal skillset and the overall defensive unit led to her being named captain for the 2020 season. Allie's willingness to help her team also led to her playing a variety of positions as a Greyhound. Starting her freshman year as a midfielder, Allie ultimately found her strength on the defensive side of the field. Her teammates consistently turn to her for guidance and direction. We're extremely thankful for all that Allie has contributed to our program and know that she will continue to bring this dedication to all of her future endeavors."
Graphics on both seniors will be posted throughout the day on Moravian's social media accounts.
