Sullivan Scores 100th Career Point as Greyhounds Top Juniata in Landmark Conference Action

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian College women's lacrosse squad improved to 2-0 on the year with a 22-12 victory at Juniata College in Landmark Conference action Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Eagles scored the first goal of the match just 44 seconds into action before Moravian knotted the score at 1-1 on a goal from senior Danielle Sullivan that gave Sullivan 100 career points, the ninth player in school history to reach the milestone. Juniata moved back ahead before the Greyhounds took their first lead of the match, 3-2, on the first goal of the afternoon by senior midfielder Meaghan McMullan. The Eagles tied the contest at 3-3 before McMullan gave the Hounds the lead for good at 4-3 on an eight-meter shot with 20 minutes left in the opening half. McMullan's goal started a run of five straight goals for the Blue and Grey, and McMullan scored with just 32 seconds left in the half to head into the intermission with a 12-7 advantage
  • Once again, Juniata needed less than a minute to score when the second half began; however, Moravian scored eight of the next nine goals to build a 20-9 advantage and start the NCAA running clock with a 10-goal lead. After three goals from the Eagles, the Greyhounds scored the final two goals of the contest to set the final score 

Inside the Numbers

  • McMullan led the Greyhounds with nine goals and two assists, giving her 152 goals and 47 assists in her career and leaving her just one point shy of 200 points in her career. She'll be just the third Moravian women's lacrosse player to reach the milestone
  • Sullivan finished with two goals and now has 101 career points
  • Junior midfielder Lindsey Strohl had four goals and an assist for the Hounds to go with five draw controls while sophomore attack Devin King added two goals and an assist and freshman attack Lexi Robinson netted two goals
  • Junior attack Eliza Fantazzi had a goal and two assists while senior defender Olivia Clearie and sophomore midfielder Emily Hoskin each scored once
  • The Greyhounds had a school record 26 draw controls in the match with junior defender Samantha Cherenson adding a career-high 12 draws and Clearie collecting six draw controls
  • Moravian used all three of its goalies with sophomore Brelyn Friedman making two saves in 35 minutes, sophomore Rylee Soltis seeing 16 minutes of action and senior Courtney Heist making one save in nine minutes in goal
