Moravian Falls at Montclair State in Non-Conference Action

MONTCLAIR, N.J. --- The Moravian University women's lacrosse squad saw its three-match winning streak come to an end as the Greyhounds fell to host Montclair State (N.J.) University, 14-10, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon. 

How It Happened

  • The Hounds jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 1:09 action on goals from freshmen attack Jackie Salvatore and midfielder Alex Cherenson. The Red Hawks countered with three goals including one with three seconds left in the quarter to hold a 3-2 edge after 15 minutes of action
  • Junior midfielder Megan Donnelly knotted the score at 3-3 with a tally just 40 seconds into the second quarter; however, Montclair State scored the next three goals to take the lead for good. The Blue and Grey pulled within a point at 7-6 on a goal from senior midfielder Lindsey Strohl with 3:11 until the intermission. The Red Hawks added one more goal to lead 8-6 at the break
  • Montclair State opened the second half with a pair of markers and scored a total of four goals in the third quarter while freshman attack Madi Dippel had Moravian's only goal of the quarter
  • The Hounds scored three times in the fourth with goals from Salvatore, Strohl and junior attack Kendall Lomascola but it wasn't enough to close the gap

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had seven different players score goals in the match with Strohl netting two goals to go with an assist and 10 draw controls. Both Cherenson and Salvatore each scored twice with Cherenson adding a pair of caused turnovers.
  • Donnelly and junior attack Devin King both had a goal and an assist while Dippel and Lomascola each had one marker with Dippel adding two ground balls and two draw controls. Senior attacks Eliza Fantazzi and Kelsey Moore each had an assist with Fantazzi causing four turnovers
  • Junior goalie Brelyn Friedman started and had one save in 30 minutes of action while junior goalie Rylee Soltis added three saves in the second half
  • Junior midfielder Emily Hoskin contributed five ground balls, three caused turnovers and a pair of draw controls while sophomore defender Keara Reilly added three caused turnovers
