Top Seed Moravian Defeats Drew, 5-0, to Advance to 2021 Landmark Conference Championship Match

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The top seeded Moravian College women's tennis team defeated fourth seed Drew University, 5-0, in a Landmark Conference Semifinal match in Timothy Breidegam Fieldhouse Wednesday afternoon as the Greyhounds, who are the defending conference champion from 2019, earned their sixth trip to the Landmark Conference title match, which the Hounds will host on Sunday, May 9. 

How It Happened

  • Moravian jumped out to a 1-0 lead in doubles action as the tandem of seniors Emma Angle and Mary Angle recorded an 8-1 win at first doubles
  • The Greyhounds pushed the lead to 2-0 when seniors Brooke Adams and Kristen Cassidy earned an 8-2 victory at second doubles
  • The Hounds would finish the sweep of doubles with an 8-3 triumph from sophomores Julianne Cassady and Cristina Merone at third doubles
  • Emma Angle pushed the edge to 4-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles before Adams captured the decisive fifth team point with a 6-3, 6-1 victory at third singles
  • Mary Angle was in the third set of her second singles match and Cassady was still in the first set of her fourth singles contest when Adams ended the contest
