Greyhounds Take Down Susquehanna in Conference Match to Clinch Landmark Playoff Berth

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's tennis team earned a 7-2 victory over Susquehanna University in a Landmark Conference match at Hoffman Courts Sunday afternoon to secure a spot in the 2022 Landmark Conference Tournament.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds took all three doubles matches to open the match. The duo of sophomore Mara Stapleton and freshman Rose Lombardo finished first and posted an 8-1 triumph at third doubles before juniors Maddie Figiel and Cristina Merone won their match at second doubles to take a 2-0 lead. Senior Morgan Colver and junior Julianne Cassady earned an 8-5 victory in their match at first doubles to give Moravian a 3-0 after doubles play
  • Figiel was the first off the courts with a 6-3, 6-0 win at third singles followed by Merone who claimed the match-winning point at fourth singles with a pair of 6-0, 6-0 scores. Colver defeated her counterpart at second singles in three sets, 3-6, 6-0, 6-2 before the River Hawks earned their first point of the afternoon. Stapleton won her match at fifth singles for the Greyhounds' final point of the day before Susquehanna earned their second point at sixth singles to put the match at its final score of 7-2
