MADISON, N.J. --- The third seeded Moravian University women's tennis team fell to top seed and host Drew University, 5-2, in the 2022 Landmark Conference Championship match Saturday afternoon played indoors at the Simon Forum due to the weather. 

How It Happened

• The Greyhounds fell behind 2-1 in the doubles action. The Rangers won the first doubles match with an 8-5 victory after Moravian led early in the match while the Hounds picked up a point at second doubles with an 8-6 win from juniors Maddie Figiel and Cristina Merone. Drew captured an 8-5 triumph at third doubles to head to singles with the lead
• The Rangers posted a straight sets win at second singles to increase their advantage to 3-1. The Blue and Grey countered with a 6-0, 6-2 win at fourth singles by Merone to cut the match back to one point at 3-2. Drew then won at fifth singles and first singles to reach the five team points needed to win the match
• The two matches that were left unfinished were Figiel at third singles, which was in the third set, and sixth singles where sophomore Mara Stapleton was in the second set after winning the first 

Inside the Numbers

• Moravian finishes the season with a 14-4 overall record
• Merone completed an undefeated year in singles, going 16-0 this season and tying the program record for season winning percentage
• Figiel and Merone also finished the year perfect in doubles action with a 14-0 mark, tying for the fourth most wins by a double tandem in a season in school history and tying the school record for doubles winning percentage in a season
