BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's tennis team defeated Rutgers-Camden, 8-1, in non-conference action at Hoffman Courts Saturday as the Greyhounds completed the fall portion of their 2022-23 season undefeated at 5-0.
How It Happened
- The Greyhounds started the contest with a 1-0 lead as only two doubles matches were contested. The duo of seniors Maddie Figiel and Cristina Merone earned an 8-3 triumph at second doubles while senior Julianne Cassady and freshman Izzy Szmodis recorded an 8-4 win at first doubles to make it 3-0
- After picking up a win by default to start singles play, Figiel earned the winning team point with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at second singles. Szmodis made it 6-0 with a 6-2, 6-3 win at third singles before the Scarlet Raptors earned a point. Merone then recorded a 6-4, 6-1 victory at fourth singles while sophomore Rose Lombardo finished the afternoon with a 6-3, 6-1 triumph at fifth singles
