SELINSGROVE, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's indoor track & field squad finished as the runner-up at the 2022 Landmark Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships hosted by Susquehanna University Saturday. The Greyhounds scored 98 points while the host River Hawks had 144 points.
It marks just the second time in the 15-year history of the Landmark Conference that the Hounds have not won the conference title with Moravian as the runner-up in 2017. There was no meet in 2021 due to the pandemic.
Event Winners
- Junior Maddie Wickel captured the 20-pound weight throw title with a PR toss of 13.70 meters (44-11.5) on her third throw of the first round. Wickel surpassed her previous best by more than three feet
- Sophomore Lexi Groff won the high jump with an All-Atlantic Region Track & Field qualifying height of 1.60 meters (5-3)
- Junior Crystal Robinson took first in the 400-meter dash in an AARTF qualifying time of 1:00.41
- Robinson also won the 200-meter dash with an AARTF qualifying time of 26.16 seconds
- Junior Helen Davis captured the 60-meter dash in a PR and AARTF qualifying time of 7.86 seconds after the top qualifying time of 7.92 seconds
Top 6 Scoring Finishes
- Moravian's 4x200-meter relay squad of Davis, junior Haylee Saylor and freshmen Zoey Bronson and Racquel Ramey was the runner-up with a time of 1:50.69
- Freshman Abby Giamoni was third in the 400-meter dash with a PR time of 1:01.25 while junior Rachel Byrne placed fifth in 1:02.22
- Robinson was fourth in the 60-meter dash in an AARTF qualifying time of 8.09 seconds while Giamoni took sixth in 8.31 seconds. Robinson had reached the finals with a time of 8.04 seconds, and Giamoni ran 8.24 seconds in the preliminaries
- Davis had a runner-up finish in an AARTF qualifying time of 26.36 seconds in the 200-meter dash while Giamoni finished fourth in 27.09 seconds
- Freshman Caillie Fish was fifth in the weight throw with a PR toss of 12.66 meters (41-6.5) to place fifth as she improved her PR by three feet while freshman Arin Peykar had a PR of nearly eight feet with a distance of 12.35 meters (40-6.25) to finish sixth
- Junior Elizabeth DeMassa took sixth in the triple jump with a PR distance of 10.14 meters (33-3.25)
- The Greyhounds 4,000-meter distance medley relay squad of freshmen Hannah Kolonoski, Rylie Murphy, Rachael Goodman and Amber Poniktera finished fifth with a time of 14:08.55
- Peykar had a sixth-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 10.34 meters (33-1.25)
- Senior Santina Burak finished fifth in the 3,000-meter run in a time of 10:38.99
- Moravian's 4x400-meter relay squad of Bronson, Robinson, Byrne and freshman Ashley Rodrigues finished the meet with a third place finish in a time of 4:18.52
Top 10 Finishes
- Senior Emma Marion finished seventh in the 5,000-meter run in a time of 19:21.43 in the first event of the meet to be completed
- DeMassa was seventh in the long jump with a season-best mark of 4.87 meters (15-11.75)
- DeMassa was also seventh in the preliminaries of the 60-meter hurdles in 10.45 seconds while freshman Lizzy Blaski was ninth in 10.55 seconds
- Senior Natalie Stabilito placed seventh in the mile run in a time of 5:28.54, and she also took seventh in the 3,000-meter run in 10:57.64
- Freshman Amanda Nicolosi was seventh in the pole vault at a PR height of 2.45 meters (8-0.25)
- Bronson took ninth in the 200-meter dash in 28.12 seconds
- Poniktera was ninth in the 800-meter run in 2:36.01
