Hounds Sit in Third after Opening Day of 2022 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships

HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's outdoor track & field squad sits in third place of seven teams after the opening day of competition in the 2022 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championships being hosted by Juniata College. The Greyhounds have 38 points while Elizabethtown College is first with 66 points after the first day of action Saturday.

Top 8 Scoring Results

  • The Greyhounds earned 19 points in the javelin, the opening event of the meet with junior Delaney Wiseman finishing as the runner-up with a toss of 32.28 meters (105-11). Sophomore Vicky Donovan was third with a mark of 32.26 meters (105-10) while freshman Abby McClaskey took fourth with a throw of 31.86 meters (104-6)
  • Moravian scored another five points in the long jump as junior Elizabeth DeMassa finished fifth with a leap of 4.95 meters (16-3.25) to pick up four points and junior Haylee Saylor took eighth at 4.64 meters (15-2.75) for one point
  • Senior Emma Marion placed eighth in the 10,000-meter run on an All-Atlantic Region Track & Field qualifying time of 39:41.21 to garner a point
  • The Hounds added 13 points in the discus with junior Maddie Wickel finishing third with a mark of 35.64 meters (116-11), sophomore Kinsey Metzger placing fifth with a distance of 33.86 meters (111-1) and freshman Caillie Fish taking sixth with a mark of 33.22 meters (109-0) 

Preliminary Results

  • Junior Helen Davis had the fastest time in the 100-meter dash qualifying with a time of 12.76 seconds. Junior Crystal Robinson and freshman Abby Giamoni both ran times of 12.79 seconds to win their heats and advance to Sunday's final as well
  • The trio was one-two-three in the preliminaries of the 200-meter dash as well to reach the finals. Robinson turned in the fastest time, an AARTF qualifying time of 25.94 seconds while Giamoni was second in 26.17 seconds and Davis took third at 26.62 seconds as all three won their heats
  • Freshman Lizzy Blaski was fourth in the preliminaries of the 100-meter hurdles in 17.47 seconds to move onto the finals on Sunday as did DeMassa, who took sixth in 17.55 seconds
