Top 10 Stories Of 2020-21 - #9 207 Greyhounds Named to Conference Academic Honor Rolls

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University is continuing its look back at its 2020-21 athletic campaign. The next entry in our countdown– the Top 10 Stories of the Year selected by the athletic administration – is our No. 9 highlight – 207 student-athletes earning conference Academic Honor Roll accolades during the 2020-21 academic year.

Both conferences that Moravian is a part of, the Landmark Conference for all sports except football which competes in the Centennial Conference, honor student-athletes at the end of each athletic season that have not only performed on the playing field but also in the classroom. Both conference honor sophomores, juniors and seniors but they have different GPA criteria. In the Landmark Conference, all sophomore, junior and seniors that have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average make the Academic Honor Roll while the Centennial Conference uses at least a 3.40 cumulative GPA as its criteria.

Moravian had 59 student-athletes selected to the Landmark Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll. Moravian had student-athletes from all six of its fall teams that compete in the conference with the women's soccer program leading the way with 18 honorees. The women's cross country and men's soccer teams each had 11 selections while the field hockey squad had 10 student-athletes selected. The men's cross country program registered seven honorees followed by the women's volleyball squad with two.

The Hounds had six football players earn Centennial Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll accolades.

The Greyhounds had 142 selections to the Landmark Conference Spring Academic Honor Roll. In a change to the Landmark Conference awards structure that begins in 2020-21, the spring semester academic honor roll now includes all spring sports as well as men's and women's basketball, men's and women's swimming & diving, and men's and women's indoor track & field. Moravian had student-athletes from all 13 of its winter and spring teams that compete in the conference with the women's track & field program leading the way with 45 honorees including 23 outdoors and 22 indoors. The men's track & field team had 28 total honorees with 14 both indoors and outdoors while the women's lacrosse squad had 14 selections and the baseball team had 11 student-athletes selected. The women's basketball and softball programs each registered nine honorees followed by the women's tennis squad with eight. The men's lacrosse team had seven student-athletes honored followed by the men's basketball program with five and both the men's tennis and golf squads with three including one student-athlete that competes for both teams.
