Moravian’s Novotni Selected To CoSIDA Women’s Track/Cross Country Academic All-District IV Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Senior Natalie Novotni of the Moravian University women's cross country and track & field teams has been selected to the 2021 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Women's Track/Cross Country Team for NCAA Division III schools in District IV.

To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-America® honors, a student-athlete must maintain at least a 3.30 grade-point average, be a sophomore, junior or senior and be a starter or significant reserve. District IV in NCAA Division III is made up of schools from Pennsylvania. Moravian has had 53 Greyhounds named CoSIDA Academic All-Americans®.

By making the All-District First Team, Novotni is now forwarded onto the national ballot to try for CoSIDA Academic All-America® accolades, which will be announced Tuesday, August 10. There are a two student-athletes from the Landmark Conference on Academic All-District Teams.

Novotni helped the Greyhounds capture the 2021 Landmark Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championship, the program's 13th Landmark Outdoor title. The conference championship meets for cross country and indoor track & field were cancelled in 2020-21 due to the pandemic.

Novotni is Moravian's 2021 NCAA Woman of the Year Nominee and selected as the 2020 Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athlete for women's cross country. She was the two-time Landmark Conference Women's Cross Country Champion, winning the conference meet in both 2018 and 2019 to garner Landmark All-Conference First Team honors while also selected as the Landmark Conference Performer of the Year. She had a winning 6,000-meter time of 22:58.6 as a sophomore and a first-place time of 23:03.5 as a junior.

On the track, Novotni captured the 2021 Landmark Conference Women's Outdoor title in the 5,000-meter run and took second in the 1,500-meter run for All-Conference honors. She also won the 2020 Landmark Women's Indoor Track & Field titles in the 3,000-meter run and 5,000-meter runs, and Novotni was also the conference champion in the 5,000-meter run in 2019 and the runner-up in the 3,000-meter run at the same meet. As a sophomore, she earned Landmark Women's Outdoor Track & Field All-Conference Second Team honors in the 5,000-meter run with a runner-up finish.

When not competing, Novotni maintained a 3.94 GPA in nursing at Moravian. Novotni was an eight-time Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll selection, and she is a two-time member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. She made the Dean's Honors List in all eight semesters during her time with the Greyhounds. Novotni is also a two-time selection for the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Cross Country All-Academic (3.30 GPA or higher and top 25% finish in NCAA Regional).
