Jon Otis ’79 - Robert Martin Herbstman Award Winner

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Jon Otis '79 will be receiving the Robert Martin Herbstman Award during the Moravian University Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony on October 8, 2021 in Johnston Hall beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Otis, a 1979 Moravian graduate, participated on the men's basketball and baseball teams during his career. He saw action as a starting and relief pitcher and at shortstop in three seasons with the Greyhounds, and he had nine strikeouts in 16.2 innings of work on the mound. Otis was part of the men's basketball program for two seasons, earning one varsity letter, and he played with Robert Herbstman during his career.

The Robert M. Herbstman Award recognizes an alumnus or alumna whose qualities of teamwork, leadership, and selflessness exemplify the spirit of Moravian University athletics.

Otis's honor will be presented before dinner, which will be followed by the induction ceremony for baseball and football student-athlete Michael Abbate '02; three-sport student-athlete Stephen Brandafi '40; men's track & field national champion Beresford "Ozzie" Brown '10; women's track & field national champion Anna Heim Hilton '10; softball player Elizabeth Paly '08, women's basketball student-athlete Stephanie Seaman Kennedy '06 and men's track All-American Nathaniel Tussey '08. The 2007-08 Men's and Women's Track & Field Teams will also be inducted that evening.
