Five Greyhounds Receive 2022 USTFCCCA All-Metro Region Honors.

NEW ORLEANS, La. --- The Moravian University men's and women's track & field squads had five student-athletes named as United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Region honorees Tuesday afternoon.

The USTFCCCA is in its seventh year and named All-Region selections for indoor and outdoor track & field at the NCAA Division III level after having All-Region honors in cross country for a number of years. For a student-athlete to earn All-Region honors, an athlete must be ranked in the top-5 of an individual event in the region according to the final Track & Field Results Reporting System data or be part of a top-3 relay team. Moravian is part of the Metro Region.

"We're always striving to get our athletes to the highest level they can achieve which includes earning All-Region honors," commented Director of Cross Country and Track & Field Jesse Baumann. "With the regional realignment this year we added some extremely good programs from New Jersey that we have to compete against to earn top 5 rankings to achieve this distinction."

The Moravian women's team had four student-athletes earn All-Region honors with junior sprinter Helen Davis finishing third in the Metro region with a time of 7.86 seconds in the finals of the 60-meter dash at the 2022 Landmark Conference Championship Meet. Sophomore jumper Lexi Groff also had the third-best performance in the region, clearing 1.63 meters (5-4.25) in the high jump at the Moravian Invitational in January.

Junior sprinter Crystal Robinson earned All-Region honors with the fourth-best time in the region with a time of 25.95 from March 5 at the All-Atlantic Region Indoor Championships. Senior distance runner Natalie Stabilito also has the fourth-best performance in the region on March 5 at the AARTF Championships, running the mile in 5:13.97.

The lone Greyhound on the men's side was graduate student Shane Mastro in the shot put. Mastro had the fourth-best throw in the region with a toss of 15.30 meters (50-2.5) at the Fast Times Before Finals Meet hosted by Lehigh University in early December.

Baumann added, "It's as challenging as ever to get into those positions so as a program we're extremely blessed to have and proud of Shane, Helen, Lexi, Crystal, and Natalie for putting in the work and getting to be some of the top athletes in an elite region."
