Laurie Muller head shot for interim swim coach position

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University has named Laurie Muller as Interim Head Men's and Women's Swimming Coach for the 2022-23 season effective immediately.

"We are grateful to welcome Coach Muller to the Greyhound Athletic family," stated Director of Athletics & Head Women's Basketball Coach Mary Beth Spirk. "Laurie will coach and mentor our swimming student-athletes this year. We are most fortunate to have someone like Laurie to step into this role on short notice. The Moravian swimming program is in capable hands. We are lucky to have such a positive relationship with Liberty High School and their athletic leadership. Coach Muller will continue to strengthen our Moravian swimming team."

Muller has worked as a Health & Physical Education teacher in the Bethlehem Area School District since 1998, and she is also an Assistant Athletic Director at Liberty High School, where the Greyhounds practice and compete. Muller served as the Head Girls Lacrosse Coach at Liberty from 2015 through 2022, and she has been a swimming coach for the Bethlehem/Hanover Swim Team since 2016.

Muller graduated from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Health and Physical Education in 1998, and she earned a Master of Science in Educational Technology from Wilkes University in 2001. While at ESU, Muller competed on the Warriors' women's lacrosse and field hockey squads.

Muller takes over the Moravian program from Mary Ellen Wydan, who left to be an assistant coach position at Lehigh University. Moravian will conduct a national search at the conclusion of the 2022-23 season for a permanent Head Coach.

The Greyhounds first competition of the 2022-23 season is slated for Saturday, October 22 when the Hounds head to Chester, Pennsylvania to swim against Widener University and Albright College.
