Former Greyhound Tracy Wartman ’96 Selected to MAC Hall of Fame

ANNVILLE, Pa. --- Former Moravian University cross country and track & field student-athlete Tracy Wartman '96 has been selected as part of the 12th class to be inducted into the Middle Atlantic Conference Hall of Fame that has been announced by the MAC office over the last three weeks.

Wartman was a member of both the Greyhound cross country and track teams from 1992 to 1996. While at Moravian, Wartman was a six time All-American: twice in cross country, once in indoor track and three times in outdoor track, setting the school record in both the 1,500-meter and 3,000-meter runs. In 1994, she was the National Champion in the NCAA Division III outdoor track & field 1,500-meter run. That same year, Wartman won the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Champion and the NCAA Division III Regional Individual Champion. She was also a MAC Individual Champion in 1995. Wartman also participated in the NCAA Division III National Championship during the 1993, 1994, and 1995 seasons.

The Lehigh Valley Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (LVAIAW) honored Wartman as its cross country athlete of the year in 1994 and 1995, track athlete of the year in 1995 and 1996, and its overall athlete of the year in 1996. She was also given the Greyhound Award for Moravian's Outstanding Senior Female Athlete in 1996. Wartman helped to lead the Greyhounds to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships three times, where they placed third in 1993 and 1995. She also was a member of the indoor track & field team that won the MAC Championships in 1993 and 1996 and of the outdoor track & field team that swept the MAC Championships from 1993 to 1996. While at Moravian, Wartman was a member of the Sigma Theta Chi sorority, Junior Class Treasure and on the Dean's List.

Moravian plans to honor Wartman with her MAC Hall of Fame award during the upcoming year. More information on the presentation will be announced at a later date.

The MAC of which Moravian was a member from 1945 until 2007 established a Hall of Fame as part of the celebration of its 100th anniversary in 2012-13. Moravian's Rocco Calvo and Harvey "Gil" Gillespie were two of a 36-member inaugural class selected in 2011-12 from current and former MAC member institutions while Kathy Beck DeKorte '92 was honored in 2013-14, Doug Pollard was selected in 2014-15, Heather Bortz '05 was picked in 2015-16 and Christina Scherwin '05 and Heidi Wolfsberger Peoples '02 were honored in 2016-17. Emily Shertzer '02 was selected in 2017-18 while Scot Dapp was honored in 2018-19, Sean Keville '96 was selected in 2019-20, and Meagan Hennessy '06 was honored in 2020-21. All 12 of the Greyhounds' MAC Hall of Fame selections are also members of Moravian's Athletic Hall of Fame.
