Kelly Applegate ’07 - New Moravian Hall of Fame Inductee

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Kelly Applegate '07, a women's basketball student-athlete and thrower for the track & field program, is being inducted into the Moravian University Athletic Hall of Fame on Friday, September 22 in Johnston Hall beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Applegate, who graduated in 2007, had an outstanding career on the basketball hardwood where she was named the 2006 Commonwealth Conference Player of the Year and selected to the 2006 Women's Basketball Coaches Association Kodak Honorable Mention All-America Team. Applegate was honored on the Commonwealth All-Conference First Team in 2006 and 2007, and she was a two-time D3hoops.com All-Mid-Atlantic Region honoree, making the First Team in 2006 and the Third Team in 2007. She was named to the ECAC South All-Star First Team in 2006. Applegate finished her four seasons on the court with 1,529 points and 694 rebounds, ranking in the top 10 in both categories.

Applegate was also a member of the women's outdoor track & field team for three years. She captured the Middle Atlantic Conference Outdoor title in 2004 in the shot put with a toss of 12.73 meters (41-9) as a freshman. Applegate scored points at the MAC Outdoor Championships in the shot put, discus and javelin with top eight finishes in each event during her three years on the track & field squad.

Applegate is being joined by women's soccer player Caitlin Corrigan Boyer '09; baseball student-athlete Brendan Close '12; women's volleyball standout Kaitie Kramer-Bicknell '00 and javelin thrower Gary Zack '12 to make up the Moravian Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2023. The 1999 and 1998 women's volleyball teams and the 2007 and 2008 women's soccer squads will also be inducted on Friday, September 22 in Johnston Hall as part of Moravian's Homecoming Weekend while Patricia Billie Miller '77 will receive the Robert Martin Herbstman Award.
