Moravian to Induct Pair Women’s Volleyball Squads into Hall of Fame on September 22

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian University will be honoring the 1998 and 1999 Women's Volleyball squads coached by Shelley Bauder with induction into the Moravian Athletic Hall of Fame on September 22, 2023 in Johnston Hall beginning at 6:00 p.m.

The 1998 squad completed the season with 27-7 record and a 6-1 slate in the Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth League while making the Greyhounds' second straight appearance in the NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament. Leading the Hounds on the court was Stephanie Rickards Corrigan '99, who was inducted in the Moravian Hall of Fame in 2015, with 468 kills, a .368 hitting percentage and 125 blocks. For the third year in a row, she was named to the All-MAC Commonwealth League First Team and AVCA Mid-Atlantic Region team for a second time adding 276 digs and 38 service aces. Amy Sandt Moravian '00, who joined the Moravian Hall of Fame in 2010, was named to All-MAC Commonwealth League Second Team and led the Moravian Greyhounds in digs with 486 and services aces with 67. Kaitie Kramer-Bicknell '00, who is a member of the Moravian Hall of Fame Class in 2023, made the All-MAC Commonwealth League Second Team and ran the offense with 10.55 assists per game.

The 1999 team earned a berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the third straight season and for the first time in school history, Moravian won a match in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional. The Greyhounds, who finished the season with a 26-8 overall record, defeated Franklin & Marshall, 3-1, in the semifinals of the Mid-Atlantic Regional. On the court, the tandem of Sandt and Kramer led the squad and completed a record setting careers with the Hounds as they are the only two volleyball players at Moravian to win 100 matches. Sandt, who is the school record holder at Moravian in kills for a career with a total of 1,461, led the Greyhounds with 425 kills and a school record 572 digs. Sandt also had 46 service aces, 36 blocks and a .242 hitting percentage. Sandt was named the MAC Commonwealth Player of the Year this fall and earned spots on the MAC Commonwealth All-Star First Team and the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Mid-Atlantic Region squad. Kramer, who set the school record for career assists with 4,319, led Moravian with a school mark 1,233 assists, and she also added 375 digs, 55 service aces, 124 kills and a .271 hitting percentage. Kramer joined Sandt on the MAC Commonwealth All-Star First Team and the AVCA All-Mid-Atlantic Region team.

The women's volleyball teams are being joined by women's basketball and women's track & field student-athlete Kelly Applegate '07; women's soccer goalie Caitlin Corrigan Boyer '09; baseball pitcher Brendan Close '12, women's volleyball setter Kaitie Kramer-Bicknell '00 and national champion javelin thrower Gary Zack '12 as well as the 2007 and 2008 women's soccer teams to make up the Moravian Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2023. Also on Friday, September 22 in Johnston Hall as part of Moravian's Homecoming Weekend, Patricia Billie Miller '77 will receive the Robert Martin Herbstman Award.
