BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Patricia Billie Miller '77 will be receiving the Robert Martin Herbstman Award during the Moravian University Athletic Hall of Fame Ceremony on Friday, September 22 in Johnston Hall beginning at 6:00 p.m.

Billie Miller has the distinction of playing on the 1975 women's volleyball team, the first year of the sport coached by Dawn Ketterman. Volleyball was one of the new sports introduced at Moravian as part of the Title IX effort to grow women's sports at this school. Billie Miller also played intramural basketball while at Moravian.

Currently, Billie Miller is currently a Connecticut State Senator representing Stamford and Darien, Connecticut and Deputy President Pro Tempore of the Senate. She was first elected to the Connecticut General Assembly in 2008. Prior to joining the legislature, Billie Miller worked in the affordable housing industry for more than 25 years and served on the Stamford Board of Representatives.

The Robert M. Herbstman Award recognizes an alumnus or alumna whose qualities of teamwork, leadership, and selflessness exemplify the spirit of Moravian University athletics.

Billie Miller's honor will be presented before dinner, which will be followed induction of the 2023 Moravian Hall of Fame Class that includes women's basketball and women's track & field student-athlete Kelly Applegate '07; women's soccer goalie Caitlin Corrigan Boyer '09; baseball pitcher Brendan Close '12, women's volleyball setter Kaitie Kramer-Bicknell '00 and national champion javelin thrower Gary Zack '12 as well as the 1998 and 1999 women's volleyball squads and the 2007 and 2008 women's soccer teams.
