Csencsits & Olsen Help Allentown Railers to 2019 ACBL Title

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- Moravian College baseball players rising senior second baseman Ian Csencsits and upcoming sophomore pitcher Eddie Olsen spent the summer playing for the Allentown Railers of the Atlantic Collegiate Baseball League, a wood bat summer league, and the duo helped the Railers to their fourth ACBL title in the last five years on August 6.

The Railers, who finished first in the Wolff Division with a 22-11-1 mark during the regular season, swept Trenton Generals in a doubleheader. 14-6 and 10-7, on August 3 in the semifinals to advance to the championship round versus the North Jersey Eagles, the Kaiser Division champions. Allentown and North Jersey split the opening doubleheader of the three-game championship series on Monday, August 5 at ECTB Stadium in Allentown with the Railers winning the opener 14-4 and the Eagles capturing the second contest 8-1 to force the final game at Overpeck County Park in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey on August 6 where Allentown won 9-3 to claim the title.

Csencsits, who earned a spot on the Landmark All-Conference First Team for the second straight season this past May, hit .450 in the five games during the postseason, going 9-for-20 to go with five runs, five RBIs, a pair of doubles and three walks. He also had 10 putouts and 20 assists while starting all five games at second base for the Railers. Csencsits was 3-for-4 with an RBI in the series clincher.

Olsen made just one start during the postseason, starting the final game and setting the Railers up for the win as he allowed just one run on five hits and two walks to go with four strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

During the regular season, Csencsits hit .350, the fifth highest average in the eight-team wood bat league, as he went 28-for-80 with 19 runs, 11 RBIs, five doubles, 10 walks and four stolen bases. Csencsits played in 28 of the Railers' 34 games and saw action at second base, first base and third base while contributing 36 putouts and 31 assists in 70 chances in the field.

Olsen made five appearances during the regular season for Allentown with four starts as he posted a 3-0 record, one save, a 2.65 ERA, 10 walks and 19 strikeouts in 20.1 innings of work.

Csencsits and Olsen will be back on the diamond for Moravian when the squad opens its 2020 season on Saturday, February 22 with the doubleheader of a three-game series at Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia. Olsen will also be on the gridiron as a wide receiver for the Greyhound football squad when the 2019 season begins on September 7 at King's College.
