HUNTINGDON, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's basketball team dropped a 77-64 decision at Juniata College in Landmark Conference action Saturday to close out the 2023-24 season. 

How It Happened

  • The Hounds scored first on a lay-up by sophomore forward Marquis Ratcliff. The Eagles knotted the score twice before the Blue & Grey stretched the edge to six points at 11-6 on a three-pointer from senior guard Filippo Baldo at the 15:18 mark. Moravian led by nine at 23-14 when junior guard/forward Michael Leonardo drained a three-pointer with just over 11 minutes remaining in the first half
  • Juniata slowly chipped away at the Hounds' edge and go within a point before freshman guard Taylor Perlmutter sank a three-pointer to give the Blue & Grey a 31-27 advantage with just under five minutes on the clock before halftime. The Eagles finished the first half with a 14-3 run to head to the locker room with a 41-34 edge
  • Senior guard Alex Dietz started the second half with a lay-up, and a three-pointer by Ratcliff had Moravian within four points at 43-39 a little over a minute into action. The Eagles pushed the edge into double figures near the 15-minute mark and let by as many as 24 points during the second half

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had three players in double figures led by Baldo, who netted a team-high 12 points on four three-pointers to go with four boards, two assists and two steals
  • Ratcliff finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds for his 12th double-double of the season and 21st of his career, and Ratcliff added a pair of blocked shots to give him a school record 60 blocked shots this winter
  • Leonardo tossed in 10 points to go along with four rebounds and three assists while Dietz, Perlmutter and senior guard Mark Howell all scored eight points with Howell adding four boards and three assists and Perlmutter had a pair of steals
  • Freshman guard Riley Flood contributed four points while senior forward Mike DiPietro added five boards and a point
  • Sophomore forward Uma Kalu posted three rebounds and a point while sophomore guard/forward Joe Dupuis had a point and three boards
  • The Hound shot 20-for-60 from the field, 13-for-32 beyond the three-point line and 11-of-17 at the foul line
  • The Blue & Grey had a 45-37 advantage on the boards including 14-8 on the offensive glass
