Hounds Fall at Scranton in Final Road Match of 2022

SCRANTON, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's lacrosse squad fell to host The University of Scranton, 16-5, in Landmark Conference action Saturday as the Greyhounds played their final road contest of the 2022 season. 

How It Happened

  • The Royals needed just 27 seconds to take the lead, and Scranton had a 4-0 advantage when Moravian midfielder Aaron Judge found the net for the Blue and Grey's first marker of the afternoon. The Royals tacked one more goal to lead 5-1 after 15 minutes of action
  • Scranton scored in the first minute of the second period as well before senior attack Connor James netted a goal for the Greyhounds. Freshman midfielder Steven Salica also scored in the quarter for Moravian; however, the Royals headed to the intermission with a 10-3 edge
  • The teams traded goals back-and-forth in the third quarter with Judge and Salica each adding a goal for the Hounds as Scranton stretched its lead to 13-5 after 45 minutes of play
  • The Royals tallied the only three goals in the final quarter

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had three different players score a goal with Judge and Salica each netting two goals and James scoring once to go with three ground balls
  • Sophomore attack Trevor Dzama contributed an assist
  • Freshman goalie Thomas Lee made a career-high 21 saves to go with a pair of ground balls while sophomore defender Jacob Stetson had a team-high five ground balls
  • Freshman midfielder Gannon Mesko was 8-for-11 on face-offs with three ground balls while senior midfielder Ben Walek went 6-for-14 on face-offs
  • Freshman defender Jason Levy had three ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers while graduate student midfielder Tyler James scooped up three ground balls
