Moravian Rallies at Immaculata for Second Straight Win

IMMACULATA, Pa. --- The Moravian University men's lacrosse squad rallied from a four-goal deficit in the second quarter to defeat host Immaculata University, 10-9, in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.

How It Happened

  • The Mighty Macs scored the first two goals of the match before senior attack Brennan Fluehr got the Greyhounds on the scoreboard with six minutes left in the first quarter off a pass from junior midfielder Steven Salica. Junior midfielder Aaron Judge added a goal with an assist from senior attack Trevor Dzama as the Blue & Grey pulled even at 2-2 after 15 minutes of action
  • Immaculata began the second quarter with four straight goals to move back ahead 6-2. Moravian countered with four goals in the final two and a half minutes of the period with three in the final minute to knot the score at 6-6 after 30 minutes of play. Junior attack Vincent Devito started the late stretch of goals off a feed from graduate student attack Connor James. Junior midfielder Kyle Weiss tallied a goal from Dzama before Dzama scored twice with assists from sophomore attack Ryan Kokoszka and Judge
  • Devito opened the third quarter with goal to put Moravian up 7-6. The Mighty Macs tied the contest at 7-7 before Devito scored again with 4:23 left in the third quarter to give the Blue & Grey an 8-7 lead after 45 minutes of play
  • The Hounds move up two goals early in the fourth period as Devito found the net again. Immaculata scored the next two goals to even the match at 9-9 with just over three minutes remaining. Dzama netted the game-winner off a pass from junior midfielder Dan Kelly with 1:41 to play 

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had nine players register a point with Devito scoring a team-high four goals
  • Dzama registered three goals, four assists and a pair of ground balls while Fluehr and Judge each had a goal and an assist with Judge adding four ground balls
  • Weiss netted one goal while James, Salica, Kokoszka and Kelly all contributed one assist
  • Junior face-off specialist Gannon Mesko was 15-for-23 on face-offs with six ground balls while junior Aden Moskovitz scooped up a team-high seven ground balls
  • Junior defender Jason Levy recorded five ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers while senior long stick midfielder Matt Baer had four ground balls
  • Freshman goalie Liam Kelly made seven saves for his first career victory between the pipes
  • The Hounds had a 50-23 advantage in shots, a 37-24 edge in ground balls and were 12-for-12 on clearing attempts
