Yaskowski's 10th Career Shutout Leads Hounds to Scoreless Draw with Goucher

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian College men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw through 110 minutes and double overtime versus Goucher College in Landmark Conference action on John Makuvek Field Saturday.

The Greyhounds are now 6-2-3 overall and 1-1-2 in Landmark Conference action after the Blue and Grey played to their second draw of the week in conference play.

Senior goalie Bryan Yaskowski recorded six saves for his fifth shutout of the season and the tenth clean sheet of his career as he moved into a tie for sixth in school history in shutouts. Yaskowski was helped out by senior defender Corey Klaskin by clearing out a ball just before it crossed the line in the 52nd minute.

Moravian had a 17-16 edge in shots and a 12-5 advantage in corner kicks in the match. The Hounds had a trio of shots on goal in the first 11 minutes of action as senior midfielders Brett Lubben and William Demmel and freshman midfielder Michael Feeley fired shots on the keeper. The Hounds nearly took a 1-0 lead in the 35th minute when freshman forward Thiago Queiroz hit the post.

Early in the second half after Klaskin kept the match scoreless with his defensive line clearance, junior defender Akinori Mollenthiel, senior midfielder Connor Phillips and junior midfielder Rocky Fatuova all put headers on goal. As the clock wound down, sophomore midfielder Jon Matthews hit the crossbar in the 78th minute, Fatuova put a shot on the keeper in the 79th minute and Mollentheil headed a ball just over the crossbar as time expired in regulation.

The Hounds had the only shot on goal in the first ten-minute overtime when Lubben hit a shot on the keeper in the 96th minute. In the second overtime, freshman midfielder Alec Aloia had a chance in the 101st minute that was stopped while Yaskowski made two late saves to preserve the shutout and give Moravian a point in the Landmark Conference standings.

The Greyhounds are slated to return to action on Wednesday, October 11 when the squad hosts rival Muhlenberg College in a non-conference match beginning at 7:00 p.m. on John Makuvek Field.
