Men's Tennis Falls to Drew, 5-0, in Landmark Semifinals

MADISON, N.J. --- The top seeded Drew University men's tennis team posted a 5-0 victory over visiting fourth seed Moravian College Wednesday in the 2012 Landmark Conference Semifinals.

The Rangers, who will host the championship match on Saturday, jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the doubles action.  The Greyhounds kept the matches close at first and second doubles with seniors Kevin Holze and Doug Morrow falling 8-6 at first doubles while senior Drew Shreter and freshman Lewis Cooper dropping an 8-5 match at second doubles.

Drew won the first two singles matches to complete with straight sets wins at fifth and sixth singles.  In the postseason, the match ends when the winning team achieves the fifth team point needed to earn the victory.  The top four singles matches were left unfinished when the Rangers took a 5-0 lead.  Morrow had a 4-3 lead in the first set at second singles, and Cooper was up 5-4 in the opening set at fourth singles when the match ended.

Moravian will close out its 2012 season with a non-conference match at rival Muhlenberg College on Friday, April 27 beginning at 4:00 p.m. in Allentown.  The match is the final Matte Award contest between the two schools with the Greyhounds leading 8-7.
