BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The third seeded Moravian University men's tennis squad topped sixth seed Wilkes University, 5-1, in a Landmark Conference Tournament First Round match at Hoffman Courts Wednesday to advance to the Semifinals for the second straight season and set the school record with the program's 17th win of the year.

How It Happened

  • The Hounds took a 2-1 lead in the doubles action. The Colonels opened the match by getting a point at first doubles while the Blue & Grey countered with an 8-4 victory at third doubles from the tandem of sophomore Ryan Burke and freshman Gavin Labbadia. Moravian moved ahead when juniors Wyatt Marshall and Ronny Pimentel Ferrer captured an 8-6 triumph at second doubles
  • Pimentel Ferrer pushed the advantage to 3- with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at fourth singles while Labbadia made it 4-1 with a 6-0, 6-4 win at fifth singles. Burke earned the winning team point with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph at sixth singles
  • In the postseason, a match ends when the fifth points is achieved so the remaining three singles matches are unfinished
  • Moravian set the school record last season with 16 victories and has surpassed the mark again this year with the program now holding a 33-9 record over the last two seasons

Up Next for the Greyhounds

  • Friday, May 3 at Drew University in Landmark Conference Semifinals, 4:00 p.m.
