Greyhounds to Travel to Drew for Landmark Conference Semifinal on May 3

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The third seed Moravian University men's tennis team is set to travel to second seed Drew University for a 2024 Landmark Conference Tournament Semifinal match beginning at 4:00 p.m. in Madison, New Jersey on Friday, May 3.

For the second straight spring, the Hounds have broken the program record for wins this year and are 17-4 this season after defeating sixth seed Wilkes University, 5-1, in the Landmark Conference Tournament First Round on Wednesday at Hoffman Courts. The Blue & Grey were 7-2 Landmark regular season record and had a 13-match winning streak during the campaign. Moravian is making its second straight and third appearance in the Landmark Conference Tournament since 2021. The Greyhounds and the Rangers met on April 16 in Bethlehem with Drew winning by a margin of 6-3.

Third-year Director of Tennis Mariana Freitas has led the Blue & Grey to a 41-17 mark since taking over the program.

Freshman Gavin Labbadia leads the Greyhounds with a 19-1 mark in singles action in his debut season. Sophomore Ryan Burke has registered an 18-3 singles slate while junior Ronny Pimentel Ferrer is 14-5 in singles play. Sophomore Shayaan Farhad has a 9-8 singles slate while junior Wyatt Marshall is 8-9 on the year.

Senior Steve Schneider is 5-0 in singles while junior Anthony Ronca is 5-9. Sophomore Matthew Labosky has posted a 3-1 singles mark while freshman Garrett Morris has a 2-0 record this season and junior Zachary Lebby has a 1-0 singles slate.

Pimentel Ferrer and Marshall have combined for an 11-8 mark while Farhad and Ronca are 8-7 in doubles action. Burke is 8-1 in doubles action with Labbadia while Labosky and Lebby have posted a 5-7 doubles mark. Burke is also 1-0 with Marshall and Labosky. The tandem of Schneider and Morris is 3-0 while Farhad and Labbadia have combined for a 2-0 slate. Labbadia and Labosky have teamed up for a 1-0 mark.

With the addition of Lycoming College and Wilkes to the Landmark Conference in 2023-24, all postseason tournaments have expanded to six teams with the top two seeds earning first round byes. The winner of Friday's semifinal will advance to the top remaining seed for the 2024 Landmark Conference Championship match on Sunday, May 5 to determine the conference's automatic berth to the 2024 NCAA Division III Tournament. Friday's other semifinal contest features top seed Goucher College hosting fifth seed The Catholic University of America. The Cardinals advanced out of the first round with a 5-1 over fourth seed Juniata College.
