Hounds Hosting 14th Roosevelt's 21st Greyhound Classic on Friday and Saturday in Johnston Hall

BETHLEHEM, Pa. ---- The Moravian College women's basketball team is getting set to host the 14th Roosevelt's 21st Greyhound Classic in Johnston Hall on Friday and Saturday, December 30 and 31.

The tournament is being hosted for the first time since January 2014 due to a change in the Landmark Conference schedule over the last two seasons. Host Moravian will play Penn State Lehigh Valley in Friday's second game beginning at 2:00 p.m. The Greyhounds and the Lions are meeting for the first time on the basketball court.

Delaware Valley University and Lebanon Valley College will battle in the other first round game at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The consolation game is slated for 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and the championship contest will start at 1:00 p.m. Delaware Valley is making its fourth appearance in the tournament while Lebanon Valley and Penn State Lehigh Valley are making their first appearance in the tournament.

Moravian headed to its 20-day holiday break with an overall record of 7-3 and a 1-0 slate in the Landmark Conference season. The Greyhounds, who played their last game on December 10th, started their season with three straight wins, including one over a nationally-ranked opponent. The Hounds dropped a pair of games before bouncing back with four consecutive wins before falling to another nationally-ranked squad.

Moravian Head Coach Mary Beth Spirk is in her 30th season with the Greyhounds, and is bringing a career record of 549-261 into the tournament. This will be the first ever meeting for the Greyhounds against Penn State Lehigh Valley. Moravian is 13-7 all-time against Delaware Valley University, and the Greyhounds are 34-13 versus Lebanon Valley College. 

Senior forward Camille McPherson leads the Greyhounds with averages of 25.7 points and 9.6 rebounds per game, and McPherson is shooting 52.7 percent (88-of-167) from the floor, 47.8 percent (22-of-46) beyond the three-point line and 89.4 percent (59-of-66) at the foul line to go with 24 assists. Senior guard Morgan Calabrese is netting 10.4 points per contest with a team-high 35 assists to go with 44 rebounds and eight steals.

Freshman guard Maddie Capuano is also scoring in double figures for the Hounds at 10.3 points per outing to go along with 25 assists, 21 steals, 34 rebound and 13 three pointers. Freshmen guard Karlie Brogan and forward Nadine Ewald are each scoring 7.0 points per game with Brogan adding 52 rebounds, 17 steals, nine assists and six three-pointers while Ewald has 55 rebounds despite missing the first three games of the season. Junior center Ciara Stewart leads Moravian with 12 blocked shots to go with 44 rebounds and 63 points in her debut season.

Delaware Valley University from Doylestown, Pennsylvania rode into the holiday break with a 3-6 record. The Aggies compete in the MAC Freedom Conference, and will begin conference play next week. Delaware Valley is headed by Laura Hogan, who is in her 21st season at the helm.

Sophomore guard/forward Danielle Skedzielewski leads the Aggies with averages of 17.1 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, and she has added 19 assists, nine three-pointers, nine steals and seven blocked shots. Freshman guard Ashley Smink is netting 14.1 points per contest with 33 rebounds, 22 assists, 22 steals and 13 three-pointers while senior center Sam Foy is contributing averages of 12.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per outing with 14 three-pointers, 15 blocked shots, 13 steals and 11 assists.

Sophomore guard Morgan Mitchell has contributed 43 points, 23 rebounds, 19 steals and 14 assists while sophomore forward Monika Smallwood has 39 points, 46 rebounds and nine steals. Sophomore guard Sarah Wills has 38 points, 47 rebounds, 19 assists and nine steals for the Aggies.

Lebanon Valley College from Annville, Pennsylvania entered the holiday break with a 5-6 record. The Flying Dutchmen compete in the MAC Commonwealth Conference, and are 3-1 in conference play this winter. Lebanon Valley is coached by Amy Sokaitis, who is in her third season.

Junior guard Becky Evans leads the Flying Dutchmen in scoring at 14.4 points per game to go with 20 rebounds, 19 assists, 15 steals and seven three-pointers. Senior forward Lexie Lantz is averaging 12.1 points and 8.8 rebounds per contest with 11 steals, eight assists and six blocked shots while senior guard Hillary Yoh is netting 11.2 points and grabbing 6.2 rebounds per outing to go with 15 assists, 12 steals and five blocked shots.

Sophomore guard Anne Lehr is adding 8.3 points per game with 26 rebounds, 20 assists and 21 steals while sophomore guard Jennifer Eck has contributed 69 points, 71 rebounds, 21 assists, 23 steals and six three-pointers. Freshman forward Caroline Scarff has 42 points and 19 rebounds while freshman forward Jasmine Copeland has added 41 rebounds, 30 points and 14 assists for the Flying Dutchmen.

Penn State Lehigh Valley from Center Valley, Pennsylvania took a 7-0 record into the holiday break. The Nittany Lions compete in the Penn State University Athletic Conference, and are 4-0 in conference play in 2016-17. Penn State Lehigh Valley is led by Moravian alum Lorie Khalil, who is in her third season at the school and 12th as a college coach.

Senior guard/forward Ashley Gordon leads the Nittany Lions at 15.9 points and 9.7 rebounds per game to go along with 31 assists and 20 steals. Junior guard Andrea Watkins is averaging 15.1 points per contest to go along with 26 rebounds, 22 assists and 27 steals while junior guard/forward Hannah Bankes is scoring 12.8 points per outing with 22 rebounds, 16 three-pointers and 19 steals.

Freshman forward Ebony Sanders is contributing a double-double of 12.1 points and 12.1 rebounds per game with 25 blocked shots and 15 steals for the Nittany Lions while sophomore forward Gia Erie is also averaging in double figures at 10.0 points per contest to go with an average of 8.9 rebounds per outing and 11 steals this winter. Junior Kereece Seuren has added 37 rebounds, 25 points and five assists.
