Greyhounds Drop Non-Conference Decision to DeSales in Johnston Hall

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's basketball squad dropped a 75-37 decision to visiting DeSales University in non-conference action in Johnston Hall Tuesday evening.

How It Happened

  • The Bulldogs scored the first seven points of the evening before a three-point play from senior guard Kayla Yoegel got the Hounds on the scoreboard. The Blue and Grey closed within two points at 9-7 after a pair of free throws from junior guard Madison Amy, and the Greyhounds were down 15-13 after 10 minutes of action on a late lay-up from junior guard Jackie Kelly
  • DeSales opened the scoring in the second quarter while Kelly drained a jumper to make it a two-point game again at 17-15. The Bulldogs went on a 9-1 run to push the advantage into double digits for the first time, and DeSales drained a three-pointer just before the buzzer to head to the locker room with a 34-21 advantage
  • The Bulldogs continued to extend their lead in the second half, holding a 52-28 advantage after 30 minutes of action 

Inside the Numbers

  • Kelly led Moravian with 10 points, and she tied her career high with six rebounds
  • Amy tossed in seven points to go with five rebounds while Yoegel and junior guard Morgan Amy both had five points with Yoegel grabbing three rebounds and Amy adding two assists and two rebounds
  • Sophomore forward Sam Osorio contributed four points and two rebounds while sophomore guard Reganne Flannery and freshman forward Brielle Guarente each had two points
  • Sophomore forward Gracie Hezel  pulled down a team and career high seven rebounds while sophomore forward Sara Geary and freshman guard Anika Buzzy both had two rebounds
  • Moravian struggled from the floor, making just 13-of-64 field goal attempts (20.3 percent) and 2-of-24 three-pointers. The Hounds were also just 9-for-17 at the foul line
