WASHINGTON, D.C. --- The Moravian University women's lacrosse team fell to host and No. 18 The Catholic University of America, 18-5, in Landmark Conference action Saturday afternoon to close out the 2022 regular season.
How It Happened
- The Cardinals opened the scoring 2:44 into the contest, and Catholic scored six times in the first quarter to lead 6-0 after 15 minutes of action
- Catholic netted two more goals to start the second period before Greyhound freshman attack Jackie Salvatore put the Hounds on the scoreboard with a little under 11 minutes left in the second quarter. The Cardinals scored another five markers before freshman midfielder Alex Cherenson netted a goal off an eight-meter shot. Catholic added one more for a 14-2 advantage at the intermission
- The Cardinals netted three goals in the third quarter while senior midfielder Lindsey Strohl scored
- Moravian netted two of the three goals scored in the final 15 minutes with Cherenson and senior attack Eliza Fantazzi both finding the goal
Inside the Numbers
- Moravian had four different goal scorers with Cherenson netting two goals to go with a pair of ground balls. Salvatore had a goal and an assist to go along with four draw controls while Strohl contributed a goal and four draws. Fantazzi netted one goal while junior attack Devin King added an assist
- Senior defender Samantha Cherenson scooped up four ground balls while junior midfielder Megan Donnelly had four draw controls
- Junior goalie Brelyn Freidman made five saves in 45 minutes of action while junior Rylee Soltis had three saves in 15 minutes of play
