Salvatore Hits 100 Point Milestone as Moravian Races Past Alvernia

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's lacrosse team jumped out to a quick lead and led 12-2 at halftime as the Greyhounds raced past visiting Alvernia University, 21-4, in non-conference action on John Makuvek Field Saturday afternoon. 

How It Happened

  • The Hounds needed just 49 seconds to open the scoring as sophomore attack Jackie Salvatore netted the first marker off a pass from senior midfielder Megan Donnelly. Graduate student attack Brittany Bill scored twice to make it 3-0 before the Golden Wolves netted their first goal of the contest. The Blue & Grey tallied three more goals in the opening quarter with Donnelly, Bill and sophomore midfielder Madi Dippel each finding the net to make it 6-1 after 15 minutes of action
  • Moravian added another three goals to begin the second quarter as Salvatore netted once and Bill scored twice. Alvernia stopped the Hounds' six-goal run with its second goal of the afternoon. However, the Greyhounds answered back with three goals in the final 2:28 of the half. Senior midfielder Emily Hoskin scored off a pass from Salvatore and when Salvatore netted the next goal, she became the 12th player in program history and second this week to reach 100 career points after Donnelly hit the milestone on Wednesday. Bill finished the half with another goal to give the Blue & Grey a running clock for the rest of the contest and a 12-2 halftime advantage
  • The Greyhounds netted six goals during the third quarter to push the edge to 18-2 after 45 minutes of play. Senior attack Devin King scored twice in the period while Bill, Donnelly, Dippel and sophomore midfielder Alex Cherenson each tallied one marker
  • Moravian added three more goals in the final quarter while Alvernia scored twice. Donnelly, Bill and. Salvatore all had a goal in the final 15 minutes

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had nine different players record points with Bill netting eight goals, her second eight-goal match of the year, to go with an assist, two ground balls and a pair of draw controls
  • Salvatore contributed four goals, and assist and three draw controls, and she now has 101 career points on 56 goals and 45 assists while Donnelly added three goals, an assist and three draw controls
  • King posted two goals and two assists while Dippel had two goals and two draw controls. Hoskin and Cherenson both scored once with Hoskin adding two draw controls and Cherenson contributing six draw controls and a pair of ground balls
  • Graduate student Eliza Fantazzi and freshman midfielder Victoria Salica both recorded an assist for the Greyhounds
  • Senior goalie Rylee Soltis made three saves in the first half of the contest while senior goalie Brelyn Friedman had six saves in the second half
  • Junior defender Keara Reilly posted four ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers while junior defender Alise Downey had two caused turnovers and junior defender Salome Carr scooped up two ground balls
  • The Hounds had a 42-17 advantage in shots, a 19-16 edge in ground balls and won 19 of 28 draw controls. Moravian was also 16-for-19 on clearing attempts
