Greyhounds Win Fourth Consecutive Match with Victory at Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's lacrosse team won its fourth consecutive match with a 21-7 victory at Elizabethtown College in Landmark Conference action Wednesday evening.

How It Happened

  • The Blue Jays scored the opening goal of the contest just 29 seconds into action. The Greyhounds countered 44 seconds later when graduate student attack Brittany Bill knotted the score. Bill's tally set off a nine-goal run from the Hounds including six more in the first quarter with Bill netting two more goals, sophomore attack Jackie Salvatore scoring twice and both senior attack Devin King and sophomore midfielder Madi Dippel adding one goal each to give the Blue & Grey a 7-1 lead after 15 minutes of action
  • Senior midfielder Megan Donnelly and senior attack Kendall Lomascola each tallied goals to start the second period before Elizabethtown scored twice to cut the Greyhounds' lead to 9-2. Moravian had four more goals with two from sophomore midfielder Alex Cherenson, one from senior midfielder Emily Hoskin and one by Bill just three seconds before the intermission to send the Hounds to halftime with a 13-3 advantage
  • The Blue & Grey scored four times in the third quarter with Salvatore, King, Bill and Donnelly each finding the net once. Elizabethtown netted three goals in the period as Moravian led 17-6 after 45 minutes of play
  • The Blue Jays scored the first goal of the fourth quarter but the scoring would be finished off by the Hounds as both Bill and Lomascola tallied two goals in the period

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian had 10 different players record a point with Bill scoring seven goals to go with an assist, 12 draw controls, two ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers. The match was the second straight that Bill has netted seven goals
  • Salvatore contributed three goals, six assists, tying her career high set earlier this season, and three ground balls while Lomascola netted three goals
  • Donnelly and King each had two goals and an assist with Donnelly scooping up a pair of ground balls while Cherenson added two goals and three ground balls
  • Hoskin and Dippel both had a goal with Dippel adding four ground balls, four caused turnovers and two draw controls while freshman midfielder Victoria Salica contributed two assists and freshman midfielder Gianna Lotito recorded an assist, two ground balls and a pair of caused turnovers
  • Senior goalie Rylee Soltis posted four saves in the first half of the contest while senior goalie Brelyn Friedman had three saves in the final 30 minutes of action
  • Junior defender Keara Reilly added a pair of caused turnovers for the Blue & Grey
  • The Hounds had a 43-16 advantage in shots, a 24-13 edge in ground balls, a 16-15 lead in draw controls and went 24-for-26 on clearing attempts
