Black's Goal Helps Moravian Blank Alvernia, 1-0

ALTOONA, Pa. --- Senior defender Eileen Black broke a scoreless match in the 81st minute to lead the Moravian College women's soccer team to a 1-0 victory over Alvernia University Sunday afternoon in the final day of the Penn State-Altoona Tournament.

Black took a pass from junior midfielder Taylor DiSora and split the defense with her second goal of the season. 

The Greyhounds had a 13-8 edge in shots in the match with Black taking a team high four shots.  Black hit the post with a header in the 69th minute while Alvernia's Bridget Verdel drilled the post in the 77th minute.  Moravian also had a 12-2 edge in corner kicks.

Junior goalie Genevieve Chaleff had three saves for Moravian in her first shutout of the season.  Chaleff had a pair of saves in a three minute span early in the second half before making her final shot just 21 seconds after Black had given the Greyhounds the lead.  Alvernia keeper Colleen Maher also made three saves.

Moravian is scheduled to return to action on Wednesday, September 12th in a non-conference match at Neumann University beginning at 4:00 p.m.
