Greyhounds Drop Rutgers-Camden, 3-0

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Moravian College women's soccer team defeated Rutgers-Camden, 3-0, Thursday afternoon. Junior midfielder Caroline Clark led the way for the Greyhounds with two goals.

Moravian would take complete control in the first half by outshooting the Raptors 9-1 and holding the corner kick advantage at 1-0. The Greyhounds jumped out to a quick start with a goal from Clark who headed it right over the keepers head for the score in the 4th minute. Seven minutes later freshman forward Melissa Pavia crossed the ball from the right side to Clark, who headed it in for her second goal of the match.

Freshman forward Catherine Lamplugh and Clark had a chance to extend the Greyhounds lead to 3-0 in the 50th minute. Lamplugh hit the post, Clark then took the rebound and had back-to-back where the first was saved and the second went just over the goal. Sophomore midfielder Kirsten Schall pushed Moravian's lead to 3-0 when she scored off a penalty kick.

Senior goalkeeper Tori Korona started the game for Moravian and played the first half while not allowing a goal. Junior goalie Genevieve Chaleff played the second half for the Greyhounds and recorded two saves in the combined shutout. Their counterpart, junior Lauren West of the Raptors had 10 saves in the loss.

Moravian held the shot advantage at 26-3, and the edge in corner kicks at 3-0.

The Greyhounds return to the pitch on Saturday, October 20th as they travel to Landmark Conference foe Goucher College. The match is scheduled for 1 p.m.
