Moravian Shuts Out Rival Muhlenberg in Matte Award Match

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – The Moravian College women's soccer team defeated rival Muhlenberg College, 1-0, Tuesday night in a Matte Award match. Junior forward Caroline Clark scored the go-ahead goal early in the second half to secure a Greyhound victory.

Moravian's defense came up big early in the contest by not allowing a goal after seeing three corner kicks and three shots in a matter of ten minutes. Clark turned the momentum around in the 24th minute with a shot that was blocked. She then came back with another shot a minute later, but freshman goalie Francesca Cobuzzi made the save for the Mules.

The Greyhounds outshot Muhlenberg, 5-4 in the first half while the Mules had a 4-0 corner kick advantage.

Clark came in with a shot that was chipped up in the air short of the goal, but she took the rebound and headed it in the back of the goal to put the Hounds up 1-0 in the 53rd minute. That was it for the contest as Moravian would control the contest the rest of the way.

Junior goalkeeper Genevieve Chaleff tallied two saves in the shutout victory. Mules goalie Cobuzzi had two saves in the loss.

Moravian outshot Muhlenberg 11-8 while the Mules held the corner kick advantage at 5-0.

The Greyhounds return to action on Saturday, October 27th as they host Landmark Conference foe Susquehanna University. It's senior day and the 3rd Annual Pink Game for the Greyhounds as the match is set to start at 1 p.m. on the HUB Quad.
