Women’s Soccer Scores Late in Victory Over Susquehanna

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Moravian College women's soccer team defeated Landmark Conference foe Susquehanna University, 1-0, Saturday afternoon. The win clinched a No. 2 seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament for the Greyhounds.

Senior defender Eileen Black had a chance to put the Greyhounds up 1-0 in the early going, but sent her free kick just over the crossbar. In the 28th minute, Black had another chance to take the lead for Moravian as her shot made it past the goalie but hit the post. At the end of the first half, the Crusaders and Greyhounds remained tied at zero. Moravian held an 11-3 shot advantage and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.

Freshman forward Catherine Lamplugh had a chance to get the lead in the 62nd minute after a centering pass, but sent her shot just inches over the goal. Moravian finally broke through in the 80th minute with a loose ball goal from freshman defender Taylor Blake (Nazareth, Pa./Nazareth).

Senior goalkeeper Tori Korona tallied four saves in her second shutout of the season. Junior goalie Rachel Norbuts for Susquehanna had eight saves in the loss.

The Greyhounds outshot the Crusaders 26-5 while holding the edge in corner kicks at 9-2.

Moravian returns to the pitch on Wednesday, October 31st as they will play in the Landmark Conference semifinals against Drew University. The match is scheduled for 3 p.m. on the HUB Quad.
