Women's Soccer Falls to Lebanon Valley in ECAC Quarterfinals

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Moravian College women's soccer team fell to Lebanon Valley College, 3-1, in the ECAC Division South Quarterfinals Wednesday afternoon. Senior defender Eileen Black netted the lone goal for the Greyhounds.

Moravian started the first half quickly with three shots in the first five minutes of the contest. Black then put the Greyhounds up 1-0 in the 26th minute after scoring on a penalty kick goal. Senior midfielder Morgan Miller for LVC had back-to-back shots in the 32nd minute, but one was blocked while the other went high. The Flying Dutchmen would knot the contest up at one with 30 seconds remaining in the half. Freshman midfielder Bre Schlemmer netted the goal after taking a crossing pass from sophomore midfielder Amanda Douglass.

Moravian held the corner kick advantage at 4-2 in the first half while Lebanon Valley took a 9-7 edge in shots.

LVC then broke the tie in the 60th minute after Douglass went around the defender, and made a tough shot in the top left corner for a 2-1 lead. Freshman midfielder Micaela Kwotchka had a chance to tie the match two minutes later, but junior goalie Becca Sykes made the save. The Flying Dutchmen added one more goal in the 65th minute of a penalty kick for a 3-1 lead. The Greyhounds managed to get three shots on goal in the final five minutes, but were unable to complete the comeback.

Senior goalkeeper Tori Korona tallied five saves in the loss. Sykes of Lebanon Valley earned the victory after recording six saves in the second half. Senior goalie Sami Young played the first half for LVC while recording one save.

Moravian held a 4-2 corner kick advantage in the contest while the Flying Dutchmen held an 18-15 shot advantage.
