Moravian Plays to 1-1 Draw with Lebanon Valley to Open 2022 Season

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The Moravian University women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw with visiting Lebanon Valley College in non-conference action Thursday afternoon on John Makuvek Field with the squads using the new NCAA rule that has no overtime during the regular season.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds had the first chance of the season with sophomore forward Carly Pyatt putting a direct kick on goal in the sixth minute, and Moravian also had the first corner kick of the match in the 11th minute also by Pyatt. The Blue and Grey ended the first half with a 6-3 edge in shots as both squads took one corner kick
  • Moravian jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 59th minute as sophomore defender Kylie Hughes slid a shot from just outside the 18-yard box and under the Flying Dutchmen goalie and into the net
  • Lebanon Valley answered 14 minutes later with a rebound shot off of a save to knot the match at 1-1 

Inside the Numbers

  • Moravian finished the contest with a 13-10 advantage in shots and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks
  • The goal for Hughes was the second of her career
  • Junior goalie Payce Korpics started the contest and had one save in 45 minutes of action while junior keeper Paige Harrison recorded four saves in the final 45 minutes of play
