Moravian Falls to Elizabethtown in Landmark Conference Tournament First Round

BETHLEHEM, Pa. --- The fourth seeded Moravian University women's soccer team jumped out to an early lead, but ended falling to fifth seed Elizabethtown College, 2-1, in the Landmark Conference Tournament First Round Tuesday evening on John Makuvek Field.

How It Happened

  • The Greyhounds scored just 7:21 into the contest as junior midfielder Chelsea Meltzer took a pass from senior forward Lindsay Mullin and slid a shot from near the top of the box into the right side of the net.
  • Moravian's 1-0 advantage held up through the remainder of the first half and the first 10 minutes after the intermission
  • The Blue Jays got onto the scoreboard in the 56th minute to knot the match at 1-1
  • Elizabethtown took a 2-1 lead with another goal just 11 minutes later
  • The Hounds put a pair of shots on goal in the final nine minutes as junior defender Kylie Hughes and junior midfielder Anika Buzzy looked to find the equalizer

Inside the Numbers

  • Meltzer's goal was her third of the season and fourth of her career while Mullin earned her first assist of 2023 and second of her career
  • Senior goalie Payce Korpics played the first 45 minutes of the match and did not face a shot on goal while senior goalie Paige Harrison recorded two saves in the second half
  • Moravian had a 15-9 advantage in shots and a 5-4 edge in corner kick
