TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University freshman Ali Bender has been selected as the Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.

Bender had an undefeated week as the Greyhounds went 1-1 to close out the fall portion of the season. Bender was 2-0 at first doubles with fellow freshman Leah Zolotareva including an 8-7 (7-5) victory in a 5-4 loss at Albright College and an 8-6 triumph versus Alvernia University. Bender earned an 8-5 win at third doubles against the Lions and a 6-1, 6-3 win versus the Golden Wolves.

"Ali is certainly deserving of this recognition as she had a terrific week, winning all of her singles and doubles matches," noted Director of Tennis Mariana Freitas. "I've definitely noticed a major improvement in her game since the start of the fall season, which has helped her build confidence in her abilities on the court."

Moravian completed the fall season with a 4-2 overall record and 1-0 mark in Landmark Conference action. The Greyhounds are slated to return to the courts on Saturday, March 16 when the squad will host Penn State-Abington in a non-conference match starting at 1:00 p.m. at Howard Hoffman Courts.
