TOWSON, Md. --- Moravian University freshman Ali Bender has been honored as the Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Athlete of the Week for her performance last week.

Bender, who earned her second Landmark Conference honor of the season, helped Moravian to a 9-0 sweep of Immaculata University in non-conference action. Bender teamed with fellow freshman Leah Zolotareva for an 8-2 victory at first doubles, and she had a 6-2, 6-0 win at second singles.

"Ali is a tough player, and she surprises me every day with her physical and mental strength as she's been battling some injuries," commented Director of Tennis Mariana Freitas. "In last week's match, she proved that she is a true competitor, and she just wants to leave it all out there each time she steps on the court."

The Hounds, who are 6-2 on the season, are slated to return to action on Saturday, March 16 when the squad hosts Penn State-Abington in a non-conference match beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Hoffman Courts.
